• 10BASE-T, one of several physical media specified in the IEEE 802.3 standard for Ethernet local area networks (LANs), is ordinary telephone twisted pair wire. 10BASE-T supports Ethernet's 10 Mbps transmission speed.

• 100BASE-T, 100 Mbps (megabits per second) known as Fast Ethernet.  There are three types of physical wiring that can carry signals: 100BASE-T4 (four pairs of telephone twisted pair wire), 100BASE-TX (two pairs of data grade twisted-pair wire) and 100BASE-FX (a two-strand optical fiber cable)

• 404 is a frequently-seen status code that tells a Web user that a requested page is "Not found." 404 and other status codes are part of the Web's Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), written in 1992 by Tim Berners-Lee. He took many of the status codes from the earlier Internet protocol for transferring files, the File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

• 802.11 is a family of specifications for wireless local area networks (WLANs) developed by a working group of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). There are currently four specifications in the family: 802.11, 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g . All four use the Ethernet protocol and CSMA/CA (carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance) for path sharing.

• 99.999 (often called "five 9s") refers to a desired percentage of availability of a given computer system. Such a system would probably have what some refer to as high availability . 99.999 availability works out to 5.39 minutes of total downtime - planned or unplanned - in a given year.
